Leading British dairy brand Lancashire Farm Dairies has been recognised for its wider contribution to the North West region, as well as having a strong year at the recent Manchester Evening News Business of the Year Awards (M.E.N Business Awards).
The Rochdale-based dairy company, which is one of the UK’s fastest growing grocery brands, picked up the Judges Choice award sponsored by Barclays.
More than 350 guests turned out for the awards ceremony held at Manchester’s Principal Hotel. Now in its 27th year, the awards see Manchester’s most forward-thinking companies gather to celebrate the innovation keeping these companies at the forefront of what they do.
This year’s judges were impressed by how Lancashire Farm Dairies has transformed itself from catering towards independent retailers in the ethnic food market to a company that is now also working with major supermarkets. Lancashire Farm has continued to evolve by investing in its site, its people and its products since its inception more than 30 years ago, becoming a leading producer and supplier of yogurts.
Commenting on the recent award win, Azhar Zouq, managing director at Lancashire Farm Dairies, said: “We are pleased all of our efforts towards becoming a house hold name and a key contender in this industry have been recognised in one of the most prestigious awards in the region.
As a business, we take our responsibility to represent the region very seriously, so to be recognised by our peers for the strong growth and progress the business has made is a real honour. Our approach is all encompassing and doesn’t simply focus on selling yogurts, but also involves constantly developing our site and employees at all levels. This recognition is an inspiration to continue to grow and attain similar accolades moving forward.”
In addition to the M.E.N Business Award, Lancashire Farm’s chief operating officer Sarfaraz Akram also won himself a spot on The Grocer’s trailblazing class of 2019 in its annual Top New Talent competition. He was commended for his energy and drive, which helped the business make sales of £37.9m in the most recent financial year.
